We had very good conversation with the kids… Grace also took a change bag with her (she’s collected up all the loose change she could) to assist those who came up short (something which we experienced at McCall elementary a couple of weeks ago), we also let the kids know that we will be assisting during the parent conference on Thursday and on Friday… a couple of kids said, “Oh, my conference is during the evening…” I said that’s good one of us will be here at that time, another said, “but mine is tomorrow morning” I said that’s fine come by I’ll be here… yet another said, “mine isn’t till Friday” again I confirmed, I’ll be here! I shared that we’ll have “FREE” calendars, posters, comic books and other things, so come on by and say “HI” to us… “Wow it’s such a blessing to actually have this kind of interaction and all supplied by direction of the school district” they’re also supplying us with the things to give away (what more could we ask???). There were a couple of kids who were passing time with us and almost passed up their lunch because they were talking to us for so long, Grace had to tell them to hurry and make sure they eat.

We met a one of the school workers, we spoke about how we just moved to town almost 2 months ago her reply was, “why?” I began to tell her why we were here, and when she heard that I was the Pastor of First Baptist she turned quiet for a bit, when I shared with her our vision and purpose she listened with interest, when I finished she remarked, “That’s what we need here is new blood!” she continued with excitement “I’ll support you guys!”

There was another occasion with a lady who mentioned that she’s never seen us around before she asked if we were new in town and if your kids go to school at Smith? When we mentioned to her who we were (and the story) she said, “I’ve never seen a pastor volunteer at a book fair before” she asked again “do your children attend Smith?” Grace told her that we actually home school, she had this wonderful look of puzzlement on her face, we continued to express to her that, Yes we are new here but this is now our community and we need to be a part of what going on in our community if we’re going to make a difference in it, we had a nice conversation about a lot if different needs and issues that she thought plagued the community.

So, it was a very fruitful day!
